Pastoral Supervision
Pastoral supervision originally offered the opportunity to create a culture of reflective practice in Healthcare and chaplaincy work. This has since expanded to incorporate not just the various healthcare constituencies, but also the ministry of faith leaders, and to explore theological education as part of the wider culture of reflective practice in pastoral ministry in local communities.
Training:
As well as my psychotherapy and supervision training for my integrative counselling practice i am also a Senior Acredited supervisor with APSE (The Association for Pastoral Supervision and Education. Registered charity: 1181559). I have regular supervision and am covered by professional insurance.
Experience:
I am a Integrative psychotherapist and supervisor with an interest in the life and work balance, and the many transitions we encounter throughout life. I have worked in the homeless field for many years, as well as in churches in a variety of roles. I also have a social work qualification. I have a personal experience of the many pressures on the families of the clergy.
How I work:
In my Pastoral supervision work I use listening skills and empathy to help people explore their concerns in a non-judgmental way. I aim to create a relationship of exploration and openness. Pastoral supervision is often offered to people working in faith communities but it is also relevant to those working in the NHS and allied caring professions.
I draw on in intial integrative counselling and supervision training to create an approach that uses influences and tools from several models to create an individual style for each person. I hope that it can be a playful and creative space that can help each person reflect on their work and calling.
Pastoral supervision are usually offered between 60 - 90 minutes and we will discuss at our initial session times and frequency. Throughout our work together there is the opportunity to review these arrangements. I also offer the opportunity to work in small groups.
